Summit is a study and grades app for high school students. This policy explains what information Summit collects, why, where it is kept, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past — if anything here is unclear, email support@summitstudyapp.com and ask.
Summit is operated by Yvonne Wereko ("Summit", "we", "us"), and is available at summitstudyapp.com and as an iPhone app.
Summit is intended for students 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 18, you should have your parent or guardian's permission to use Summit.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we delete that account and its data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will remove it.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google. We never receive or store your Google password.
Your grades are yours. Summit does not connect to your school's grade system and does not receive anything from your school. Everything in Summit is what you typed or photographed yourself.
Chat messages are stored so the conversation persists. They are not end-to-end encrypted. Do not send anything in Summit that you would not want stored.
When you ask Summit to make flashcards, generate a quiz, or build a study plan, the notes or photo you supplied are sent to Google's Gemini models, through Google Cloud's Vertex AI, which generates the result and sends it back.
Two things worth knowing about how that works:
AI output can still be wrong. Summit's checking pass reduces errors but does not eliminate them. Always check generated material against your actual notes before you rely on it.
Summit uses a small number of services to run. Each one receives only what it needs:
| Google Firebase | Accounts, sign-in, and the database that holds your classes, grades, decks and messages. Hosted in the United States. |
| Google Cloud / Vertex AI | Processes the notes or photos you submit for AI generation. |
| Apple | Handles all subscription payments. Apple tells us whether your subscription is active. We never receive your card number or billing address. |
| Resend | Sends account emails, such as your welcome message. |
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or if it is necessary to protect someone's safety.
If you report a message or a user, that report is stored and can be read by the Summit team. Reports do not go to your school and are not routed to any school official. If someone is in danger, contact a trusted adult, your school, or local emergency services — Summit is not an emergency service and cannot act quickly enough to help.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected users.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Email us and we will honour any such request we can verify.
Summit is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any school, school district, or education company. We do not have an agreement with your school, we receive nothing from your school's systems, and your school does not have access to your Summit account.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app. Continuing to use Summit after a change means you accept the updated policy.
